A 33-year-old man was arrested just minutes after allegedly robbing a Town of Poughkeepsie bank. Nicholas J. Salfelder of Lagrangeville was arrested shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, when police received a call of a reported bank robbery at the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union on South Road (Route 9), said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Lt. Kevin Faber. Salfelder entered the bank and told the teller he had a gun and demanded money, Faber said. He then placed the money in a bag and left the bank. A 36-year-old man wanted for an alleged burglary at an area restaurant was nabbed by police after a lengthy search. Jonathan Gardineer of the Town of Poughkeepsie was arrested in LaGrange on Monday, Oct. 22, for a burglary that took place Feb. 15 at Gibson's Bar & Restaurant on Vassar Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Fire Leads To Evacuation Of Busy Town Of Poughkeepsie Store
A fire in the deli section of the Price Chopper grocery in the Town of Poughkeepsie caused the evacuation and temporary closure of the store. The fire started around 2:07 p.m. Friday at the store located at 2585 South Road when a rotisserie caught fire, said Chief Tory Gallante of the Arlington Fire Department. A report of a stolen vehicle led to the arrest of a Town of Poughkeepsie man for grand larceny. Peter B. DeRosso, 44, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 6 after a Town of Poughkeepsie resident reported that their 2017 Kia Sorrento had been stolen from the driveway and that the vehicle contained personal information and credit cards, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. A Poughkeepsie woman was arrested for violating a protective order after police received a complaint from the victim. Karen A. Rendon, 23, was arrested on Tuesday, after Town of Poughkeepsie Police received notice from the victim that Rendon has come to her residence on Friday, June 22 while the order was in effect, said Capt. Kevin Faber. The investigating officer located Rendon on Tuesday and charged her with felony criminal contempt, he said. She was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 cash bond or $20,000 bond.
