Man Sentenced For Shooting At Cops Leading To School Lockdown In Area
A man who fired multiple shots at police officers near an area school has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Keith M. Potik, age 28, of Wappingers Falls, was sentenced on Friday, Aug. 20 for the incident which took place on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, just blocks away from a primary school, leading to a school lockdown in Red Hook.
Potik, who pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder, as well as two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

Driver Crashes Vehicle While Using Cell Phone, Injures Passenger In Red Hook, Police Say
Two people were injured when the driver of a car lost control of the vehicle while allegedly using a cell phone while driving and slammed into a telephone pole.The crash took place around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, on East Market Street at the intersection with Baxter Road in the village of Red Hook, said Red Hook Police.
Investigating officers determined that a 2002 Ford driven by Dylan Gop, 25, of Grayville, and a 21-year-old passenger, were westbound on East Market Street when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the telephone pole, police said in a release.

Stanfordville Man Breaks Into Home, Hits Woman In Front Of Child, Police Say
A Stanfordville man was charged with felony burglary after breaking into a Village of Red Hook home and hitting a woman in front of a child.
John J. Mitchell, 52, was arrested around 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, after Red Hook Police officers responded to a report of a physical dispute at an area home, Red Hook Police said.
Following an investigation, police determined that Mitchell had forcefully entered the residence and struck a woman while a young child was present, police said.
