ID Released For Man Shot, Killed During Home Invasion In Area
A 23-year-old man shot and killed during an apparent home invasion in the area has been identified.

Police received a 911 call from the tenant of 107 North Bridge St., that he had shot someone during a robbery attempt, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
The man told police that two men attempted to rob him at gunpoint in his apartment. He told officers he began fighting with the men, was able to get the gun away from one and shoot him, Clark said.

Area Man Chokes, Assaults Woman During Domestic Dispute, Police Say
A Poughkeepsie man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and choking a woman during a domestic dispute.
Charles Smiling, 45, was arrested on Friday, July 12, after Town of Lloyd Police responded to a domestic violence call, said Lt. James Janso.
Smiling is accused of entering a 29-year-old Highland woman’s apartment and assaulting her, causing serious facial injuries, Janso said.
He was charged with felony burglary, assault, and felony strangulation and is being held at the Ulster County Jail on $25,000 cash/$50,000 bond.

Mom Ordered Her Kids To 'Beat Up' Two Others In Area, Police Say
A mother was arrested for allegedly going after two small children and then demanding that her own children "beat them up."
Realistic Latimer, 25, of the City of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 2:50 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, after police received several 911 calls about a disturbance on the sidewalk in front of 55 Washington St., which is directly across from police headquarters, said City of Poughkeepsie Police Lt. David Fernandez.
According to police, witnesses said that Latimer had confronted two children ages nine and 10 and threatened to "beat them up," Fernandez said.
