Burglar Hit Same Capital District Car Wash 10 Times, Police Say
An accused serial burglar from the region who allegedly hit the same business nearly a dozen times has finally been caught by police. Troopers in Columbia County were first called to the Cantele Car Wash in Greenport on April 22, 2022 with reports of two possible break-ins, according to New York State Police. Investigators determined that the wash, located on Fairview Avenue, had been burglarized on 10 occasions, with the suspect making off with over $4,000 and causing extensive damage to a vending machine and coin dispenser in the process. Suspect Nabbed After Woman Found Stabbed In Chest At Hudson Valley Residence
A Hudson Valley man has been charged with assault after a woman was found suffering from a stab wound to the chest. The incident took place in Orange County around 2 a.m., on Saturday, July 16 in the town of Wallkill. Officers responded to a home at 4 Avoncroft Lane for an assault call. A man and a woman from the region are facing felony charges after police said they robbed a victim in his home and then fled the scene in his pickup truck. Police received a report about a robbery in Sullivan County on Old Liberty Road in Monticello at about 2:40 a.m. on Friday, July 15, according to New York State Police. Man Accused Of Breaking Into Hudson Valley Home, Threatening Violence
A man is behind bars after allegedly breaking into a Hudson Valley home and threatening residents. Saugerties Police were called at around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, with reports of a fight in progress at a home on Washington Avenue. Another 911 call reported a burglary in the same area. When officers arrived, they determined that Michael Newman, age 36, had forced his way into the home and threatened to physically harm people inside. Newman fled before police arrived, but was arrested the following day. He’s now facing charges of felony burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

A 26-year-old man has been charged with stealing property from a Westchester County house under construction. Edison Guerrero, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Monday, June 20 in Harrison. The Harrison Police responded to a residence in Purchase on a report of an unknown man seen on the property of a house that was under construction, said Sgt. Carmine Gentile, of the Harrison Police. Two 16-and-17-year-old boys are facing charges after they were allegedly busted carrying loaded guns in the Capital District. Albany Police said they spotted the teens at around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, as the boys walked near McCrossin Avenue and Thornton Street in Albany. When detectives tried to stop the teens as part of an ongoing investigation, they took off running, police said. A man already jailed on murder charges has been accused of setting fire to a Capital District business in 2017. Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating after someone broke into Curtis Lumber on State Route 67 in the Town of Ballston after the business closed on Nov. 27, 2017.
