Indian Point 3 License To Continue Operating Without Recertification
CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Even if the license for one of Indian Point's reactors is not re-certified by Sunday, Entergey, owners of the nuclear power plant, said it will continue to operate the plant, reported Time Warner Cable News. According to Time Warner Cable News, Entergy said it applied for a renewal license more than five years ago. Rhinebeck School Board Considers Later Start Time
RHINEBECK, N.Y. - It long has been argued by teenagers and doctors alike that teenagers need more sleep in the morning, and this year, the Rhinebeck School District is considering taking that advice. According to a report from Time Warner Cable News, the board of education is looking into changing the time of when school starts to allow students more time to sleep in the morning. Protesters Line Street Against Pipeline
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. - Groups of protesters lined the streets outside the Westchester Marriott Hotel in Tarrytown earlier this week, while the Chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission was in a meeting at the hotel. According to a report from News 12, environmental protesters want the commission to rethink a new natural gas pipeline that had been approved by federal regulators in March. Yale Wiffenpoofs To Sing At Southport Trinity Church
SOUTHPORT, Conn. - The all-male a capella ensemble that is the Yale Wiffenpoofs will be visiting Southport's Trinity Episcopal Church for a special concert and reception Saturday, Dec. 12. The concert is a part of the church's "Music Under the Spire" program, which renews the tradition of music that has been part of Trinity's heritage. STAMFORD, Conn. - On the steps of Old Town Hall in Stamford, the ENOUGH Campaign will have its third annual vigil Thursday to honor the lives lost to gun violence across the country. RAMSEY, N.J. - Smith Middle School is looking for students and families interested in helping the All Wrapped-Up Gift Delivery charity to deliver donated gifts to families in need. As a part of the Community Service Club, students will be heading out from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday Dec. 17 to bring the gifts to the families. Fairfield County Called The Most Unequal Place In America
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - A recent study by Business Insider shows that in addition to Fairfield County being the wealthiest county in the country, it is also the most unequal place. The study specifically notes that as of 2012, Bridgeport's per capita income was $19,743, with nearly a quarter of residents living below the poverty line, according to the US Census Bureau. However, the same year in Greenwich the per capita income was $83,270 and only 7.1 percent of residents live below the poverty line.
