Teen Accused Of Killing Man In Western Mass While Out On Bail: DA The 19-year-old accused of killing a 38-year-old Hampden County man last month was out on bail at the time of the fatal shooting, authorities said. Luis Rodriguez, of Chicopee, is charged with murder in the July 9 slaying of Dexter Ortiz, the Hampden District Attorney's Office said. Rodriguez was arrested on July 10 on motor vehicle charges and had his bail revoked in two other narcotics cases he is facing. $1M Lottery Jackpot: Salem Woman Has Altruistic Goals For Winnings A Salem woman who won $1 million in the Massachusetts State Lottery said she has big plans for her major windfall. Francisca Uceta De Placencio collected the seven-figure check playing the $10 scratch-off game “$4,000,000 Monopoly Doubler." Three $4 million grand prizes remain in that game and five $1 million tickets are in circulation. Uceta De Placencio chose to take the lump-sum payment of $650,000 rather than the annuity. Stoughton Police Investigating Shooting A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg late Wednesday night, and police are asking for the public's help identifying the shooter. Police were called to 40 Stagecoach Road around 10 p.m. where they met a man sitting on the ground with a gunshot wound, Stoughton police said. The man was not a Stoughton resident. Paramedics took him to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the community. Detectives ask anyone with information on the shooting to contact investigators at 781-344-2424.

Woman Set Fire At Maynard Home That Injured Firefighter: Police A 26-year-old woman has been arrested after police say she intentionally started a house fire in Maynard last month. Anabelle Dentino, of Maynard, is charged with arson of a dwelling and causing injury to a firefighter, Maynard police said. She is being held without bail. Firefighters were called to 1 Little Road in Maynard to reports of a structure fire. While battling the blaze, a firefighter suffered minor injuries. Man Killed In 2-Car Crash In Western Mass A man was killed in a two-car crash Wednesday night in Wilbraham, authorities said. The crash happened just after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Boston Road. Body Of 14-Year-Old Found At Western Mass Pond; Presumed Drowned Police are investigating after a 14-year-old was found unresponsive at Benedict Pond in Berkshire County, authorities said. Great Barrington police were called to the Beartown State Forest recreation area just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, after the child was found unresponsive in the water, officials said.
