Four Charged As Heroin, Crack, $9.4K Seized In Poughkeepsie Drug Bust

Four people were arrested following the execution of a search warrant that uncovered heroin, crack cocaine and more than $9,400 in cash.

The bust went down on Tuesday, Jan. 15, when members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Neighborhood Recovery Unit and Emergency Services Unit executed the warrant at 17 South Hamilton St., Apt. 2, in the city, said City of Poughkeepsie Police Lt. Terrence Beam.

As a result of the investigation, officers recovered and seized in excess of 10 grams of “crack” cocaine, about 10 grams plus 30 envelopes of heroin, over $9,400 in cash, phones, scales, packaging material, and other items associated with the sale and distribution of controlled substances, Beam said.

During the search, police arrested four Poughkeepsie residents including:

  • Luis Reyes, 38, was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also wanted by the state Division of Parole for violating parole.
  • Whitney Burris, 29, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
  • Destiny Pena, 24, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
  • Jennifer Romer, 47, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

The defendants are being held at the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department pending arraignment in the City of Poughkeepsie Court.
