18 Displaced In Poughkeepsie Fire

Eighteen people were displaced following a fire Sunday in the City of Poughkeepsie on Eastman Terrace.

The fire broke out in the back of one of 10 townhouse/apartments at 6 Eastman Terrace, officials with the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m. and remained until 2:30 p.m., with firefighters working the fire, which started in the back of units five and six, from both sides of the building as the fire spread.

All of the tenants, including 12 adults and six children were safely evacuated, and are being assisted by the Red Cross, due to fire and smoke damage to the structure. Because of the damage, power was cut to the entire building.

There were no injuries.
