LI Driver Careens Across Road, Into Utility Pole In One-Car Wreck: Police
A Long Island man was seriously injured in a one-car crash on Sunday night, Sept. 13, police said.
The 30-year-old Middle Island man was traveling eastbound on Middle Country Road in a 2026 Nissan Rogue around 9:20 p.m. Sunday, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Suddenly, the Nissan crossed into the westbound lanes, left the roadway, and struck a telephone pole in front of 800 Middle Country Road, police said.

A drunk-driving Long Island man who killed a woman in a crash and briefly fled the scene has pleaded guilty, authorities said Monday, Sept. 14.
Rajvir Bharaj, 34, of New Hyde Park, admitted to killing 61-year-old Lidia Rivera in the crash at his hearing Friday, Sept. 11, the Nassau County District Attorney’s office said.
After the collision, Bharaj drove away from the scene and called one of his pals, a New York City police officer, several times and also sent them a message asking, “should I leave?”, according to authorities.
