Line Of Severe Storms Moving Through With Heavy Rain Causing Flooding In Parts Of Region A line of storms is now moving across the region from west to east, producing drenching downpours that are flooding some areas. A radar image of the region above, from just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, shows severe storms marked in red. "Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," the National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement issued Tuesday. Severe Storms, Possible Tornadoes Fueled By Beryl's Remnants To Hit Northeast: Timing, Track Numerous clusters of severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and possible isolated tornadoes fueled by the remnants of Beryl are headed to the Northeast. Beryl, which made landfall along the Texas coast as a Category 1 hurricane on Monday, July 8, will move into upstate New York and northern New England on Wednesday, July 10, starting late in the afternoon and continuing overnight. The most severe storms on Wednesday are expected in areas marked in orange and yellow in the image above, mainly farther north and west of the I-95 corridor. Officers Save Business Owner, Dog Stranded On Hudson Valley Island After Sudden Storm A cafe owner and her dog were rescued from the shores of an island in a Hudson Valley lake after becoming stranded following a sudden thunderstorm that knocked them from their paddle board.  The events leading up to the rescue began in Putnam County on Sunday, June 23, when a microburst slammed the area of Lake Mahopac around 5:30 p.m., bringing heavy rains and high winds and knocking down trees and power lines.  During this time, the owner of Mahopac's Freight House Cafe, Donna Massaro, had been paddle boarding on Lake Mahopac with her dog, Joey.
