Driver Escapes After Car Plunges Into Pond In Somers Amid Heavy Rain A driver had to escape after their vehicle became submerged in a pond in Westchester, prompting a multi-agency emergency response, fire officials said. The incident happened on Wednesday, March 5, a little before 7 p.m., when a driver crashed into Mill Pond in Somers and was reported to be trapped in the car amid a rainstorm, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department said.  By the time first responders arrived, the driver had managed to get themselves out of the vehicle.
