Two people, including a New Jersey woman, were arrested after police discovered a loaded handgun during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley, NY, authorities said.
The arrests were made on Friday, May 22, following a traffic stop that began at around 7:45 p.m. in the Orange County town of Newburgh, New York State Police said on Wednesday, May 27.
Troopers stopped a 2016 Dodge traveling westbound on I-84 after seeing multiple vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.

A four-year-old child with autism was safely rescued after being abducted in a rapidly unfolding kidnapping situation that spanned Westchester, Dutchess, and Putnam counties, authorities announced.
The incident began on Saturday, Feb. 22, when Putnam County 911 received a report of a vehicle stolen out of LaGrange. Authorities learned that the suspect, 26-year-old Jahyra Allen of Brooklyn, had allegedly taken the car from a family member and abducted her 4-year-old child, whom she does not have legal custody of, according to New York State Police.

5 Nabbed On Gun Charges In Hudson Valley During Traffic Stop, Police Say
Five residents in the region, including three juveniles, were nabbed on alleged gun charges during a routine traffic stop.
The incident occurred in Orange County around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, on I-84 in Deerpark.
According to New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel, troopers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Orange County resident Jaykris Vargas, age 23, of Middletown.
While interviewing Vargas, troopers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. While searching the car, they located a loaded semi-automatic handgun, Nevel said.
