2-Alarm Tractor Fire Spreads To Barn In Hudson Valley Firefighters stopped a barn fire from spreading after a tractor caught fire in Dutchess County.  The blaze happened on Monday, Sept. 22, when crews were first dispatched around 2:15 p.m. to Woods Road in Tivoli for a reported tractor fire. While on the way, the call was upgraded to a barn fire, according to the Tivoli Fire Department.  The first arriving engine confirmed a working barn fire, followed quickly by Tivoli’s second engine, which hit the closest hydrant to provide extra water. Firefighters then upgraded the response to a second alarm to bring in more manpower …

Photos: Flames Tear Through Outside Of Peekskill Home A fast response by firefighters helped prevent major damage during a house fire in northern Westchester on Monday morning, July 21.  City of Peekskill Fire Department crews were called to a home on Bernard Road in the Highland Park neighborhood around 10 a.m., the department said. When firefighters arrived, they found active flames on the outside of a single-family home. The fire was beginning to spread to an outside wall. Blaze Prompts Evacuation Of Home In Hudson Valley Firefighters responded to an active chimney fire in Dutchess County on Wednesday evening, Feb. 12, prompting residents to evacuate. The fire, which happened at a home in the hamlet of Chelsea, was reported just before 7 p.m., with crews arriving to find heavy smoke inside the home and flames coming from the chimney. Governor Provides Update On Wildfires In Hudson Valley As the wildfires continue to burn across the Hudson Valley, Gov. Kathy Hochul updated what's being done to mitigate and contain them. On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Hochul said a multi-agency response had been deployed to fires in Orange and Ulster counties in close coordination with local fire departments and first responders.  According to Hochul, an aerial investigation shows the Orange County fire named the Jennings Creek/Sterling State Park wildfire in New York and New Jersey now encompasses 5,000 acres, half of which is in New York, and is 10 percent contained in both states.
