'Mistaken Identity' Led To Father's Killing In Backyard Of Long Island Home, DA Says
A case of mistaken identity led to a husband and father being gunned down in the backyard of his Long Island home, prosecutors said.
Oliver Schor, age 22, and Christopher Fernandez, age 28, both of Sound Beach, were formally arraigned on murder charges in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Aug. 9, in the fatal shooting of Michael Hartmann.
According to prosecutors, Fernandez and Schor were armed with rifles when they showed up at Hartmann’s Bohemia residence, located just south of the Sunrise Highway on Smithtown Avenue, at around 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2022.

Three years after a man was shot and killed in an ambush attack outside a Long Island home, the alleged gunman was formally charged.
Paulin Cerisier, age 29, of Pennsylvania, was indicted on murder and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the death of Maresse Decherson-Stevenson.
Prosecutors said Cerisier drove to Amityville shortly before 3 a.m. on July 18, 2021, and entered a backyard party being attended by Decherson-Stevenson, the uncle of his ex-girlfriend.

Long Island Man Charged After Throwing Explosive Device On Woman's Car
A Long Island man was charged with arson after allegedly throwing an explosive device on a woman's car, causing heaving damage.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, in North Merrick.
According to the Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad, James Luca, age 46, of North Merrick, ignited an explosive device and threw it onto the hood of a female victim’s car, located in the driveway of her Sherman Avenue home.
He then fled the area while the device exploded, causing damage to the hood of the vehicle and the front windshield, police said.

A Long Island man was charged with assault for allegedly hitting a neighboring business employee with a knife during a parking dispute.
The incident occurred in Nassau County around 1:55 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, in Franklin Square.
According to the Nassau County Police, Daljit Singh, age 58, of Hicksville, the owner of the OK Gas Station on Park Road, had a verbal dispute with an employee of another business regarding car parking on his property.

A 15-year-old has been arrested on charges including robbery after he allegedly used dating apps as a way to find his next robbery victim.
The teen was arrested on Sunday, June 23 for two New Cassel incidents, Nassau County Police said.
His arrest came following an investigation, which found that the unnamed 15-year-old boy used a dating app to arrange meetings with other boys on at least two occasions — on Friday, June 14, and on Friday, June 21.
