Lifelong Yonkers resident Darlene Fata died on Wednesday, May 31 at the age of 54 after a battle with cancer, according to her obituary. A man who grew up in Westchester County and spent more than 50 years working at an insurance company in Connecticut has died at the age of 91. Fairfield County resident Anthony “Tony” Ragusa, of Wilton, died at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 4, following a brief illness, according to his obituary. He was born in Port Chester and graduated from Port Chester High School. A longtime Rockland County police lieutenant has died unexpectedly. The Suffern Police Department announced the death of Lieutenant John Mallon on Thursday, Feb. 18. Mallon was raised in Suffern and fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a Suffern Police Officer. A 33-year-old police officer in Westchester died unexpectedly at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville. Thomas Goff, who had been with the Yonkers Police Department for the past three and half years, died on Saturday, March 30, according to an obituary by Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. Suspect Caught Stealing From Yonkers Church Donation Box Apprehended
An investigation into stolen money from a Westchester church donation box led to the apprehension of a Yonkers man who fought his arresting officers, police said. Investigators from the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to Sacred Heart Church on Shonnard Place on Friday, Jan. 19, after receiving reports of a suspicious suspect removing money from a donation box.
