Covid-19: New Data On Deaths By Age Group, County Released By New York State New data on the number of deaths in New York due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) by age group and county has been released by the state health department. The age group with most of the state's  4,159 COVID-19 deaths is 70 to 79 with 1,096 (26.3 percent). It's followed closely by the 80-89 age group with 1,076 (25.8 percent). (See image above showing breakdown by all age groups). The majority of deaths have been New York City residents. Female Correction Officer Injured After Being Choked By Fishkill Correctional Facility Inmate A female correction officer was injured after a 54-year-old male inmate at Fishkill Correctional Facility allegedly charged at her and choked her. The officer, who was assigned to the mess hall, observed an inmate leave with bulges in his front pockets and went to confront him on Thursday, Feb. 7 around 9:30 a.m., authorities said. The inmate then removed two packaged food items and threw them at the officer. He then charged her and put her in a chokehold, causing her to black out. Three Hudson Valley Counties Have State's Lowest Jobless Rates These counties rank among the lowest for jobless rates in New York state, according to the Labor Department. The counties in New York State with the lowest unemployment rates in March 2018 include: New York County (3.7%) Queens County (3.7%) Richmond County (4.1%) Nassau County (4.2%) Tompkins County (4.2%) Kings County (4.3%) Albany County (4.4%) Putnam County (4.4%) Dutchess County (4.5%) Rockland County (4.5%) Saratoga County (4.5%) Orange, Ulster and Westchester didn't make the list. The jobless rate in all three counties is slightly higher than the state average.

Police: School Employee In NYC Tried To Lure Child To Hudson Valley Hotel A Brooklyn man who works for a Manhattan elementary school was charged with trying to lure a teenager to a Hudson Valley hotel for sex, state police’s Troop F Child Abuse Unit in Sullivan County said on Friday, March 16. Abraham Silverberg, 51, an employee at Public School 116, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with third-degree attempted rape and luring a child, both felonies, police said.  Silverberg also was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
