Trooper Injured After Being Hit On Tappan Zee Bridge By Alleged Drunk Driver From Westchester
A New York State Police trooper is recovering after his patrol vehicle was struck by an alleged drunk driver on the new Tappan Zee Bridge. The crash happened at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, as the trooper was parked on the southbound shoulder running radar checks, according to State Police. That’s when his marked police vehicle was reportedly struck from behind by Westchester County resident Linda Kramer, age 50, of Tuckahoe. No one was injured during a crash of a tractor-trailer on the new Tappan Zee Bridge shortly after the arrival of the Nor'easter, one of many crashes already reported in the region. The crash took place during the early morning hours on Monday, Feb. 1, after the tractor-trailer lost control due to the weather conditions in Orangetown, said Trooper Tara McCormick of the New York State Police. Should Cyclists, Pedestrians Be Given Separate Times On New TZB Shared Pathway As Safety Move?
With New Yorkers now enjoying the 3.6-mile shared bicycle-pedestrian path on the new Tappan Zee Bridge, some are questioning whether cyclists and walkers can safely share the space. Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner - a noted cycling enthusiast - launched a survey asking whether there should be specific schedules for pedestrians and bicyclists after receiving questions about the safety of the 12-foot wide path.
