Wallkill Man ID'd As Passenger In Orange County Crash That Killed Pilot
The passenger has been identified in a small plane crash on Saturday morning that resulted in the death of a Westchester man. Mamaroneck resident Aaron D. Panken, 53, president of a leading Jewish seminary, died from injuries suffered when a yellow Aeronca 7AC aircraft crashed into the woods just after takeoff from Randall Airport in Middletown at around 9:30 a.m. Flight instructor Frank Riess, 65, of Wallkill sustained non-life threatening injuries. Pilot From Area Sole Survivor Of Helicopter Crash That Killed Five
A 33-year-old Fairfield County man was the pilot and sole survivor of a helicopter that crashed in the East River in Manhattan, killing five, according to multiple sources. Richard Vance of Danbury was the only person to escape the crash around 7 p.m., Sunday, as the Eurocopter AS350, he was piloting went down near 88th Street.
