The wife of a once sought-after Hudson Valley podiatrist has sued her estranged husband and his sister for allegedly scheming to have her killed.
Rockland County resident Ira Bernstein, age 49, of Montebello, and Northern Westchester resident Jaclyn Goldberg, age 40, of Bedford, are being sued by Susan Bernstein, as they face criminal charges in the alleged plot.
This is the alleged second such plot the podiatrist has undertaken to kill his wife Susan Bernstein, of Sloatsburg, who filed the lawsuit on Thursday, July 27 in the New York State Supreme Court.

A podiatrist from the Hudson Valley has been accused of trying to get his wife killed for a second time, this time with the alleged aid of his sister.

Ex-Deputy Mayor In Hudson Valley Headed For Jail On Gun Charges
A former Hudson Valley deputy mayor has pleaded guilty to six felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Ramapo resident Brian Downey, age 49, of Airmont, plead guilty on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in connection with the discovery of a cache of weapons during a search of his Airmont home on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh.
He faces two years in the Rockland County Jail for his convictions, Walsh said.

1 Dead, 2 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Hudson Valley Crash
One person was killed and two others injured in a three-vehicle crash in the Hudson Valley.
The crash took place in Rockland County around 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 on Airmont Road and Route 59 in Ramapo.
An investigation into the crash found that a 2012 Nissan Rogue, driven by a 41-year-old female resident of Mahwah, New Jersey, was traveling eastbound on Route 59, said Lt. Blaine Howell, of the Ramapo Police.

Three Rockland County teens mingling on a street corner were all carrying guns when detectives in Paterson, New Jersey, rolled up on them, authorities said.
Detectives Jonathan Traynor and Kenneth Kerwin approached the trio at the corner 5th Avenue and East 12th Street shortly before 12:30 a.m. last Sunday, Nov. 27, city Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

An 18-year-old man has been sentenced after he pleaded guilty to 17 charges in a Hudson Valley crash that killed a classmate and seriously injured other passengers in the vehicle.
Joseph DeBellis, of Airmont, was sentenced on Tuesday, March 15, to six months of incarceration followed by five years of probation, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh.
The crash happened at about 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021, on Route 202 in Montebello when DeBellis, then 17, was a Suffern High School student.

Spikes in positive COVID-19 cases in Rockland and Orange County have pushed the Hudson Valley’s infection rate to the highest in New York.
On Monday, Sept. 28, there were 9,948 people tested in the Hudson Valley, with 202 returning positive, bringing the infection rate to 2 percent, ahead of Western New York (1.3 percent), New York City (1.3 percent), and Long Island (1.2 percent).
No other region was above 1 percent as the statewide infection rate rose to 1.3 percent.

A hit-and-run driver in Rockland County was neither quick enough, nor smart enough to avoid police after striking a parked car and crashing into a utility pole.
Officers from the Ramapo Police Department responded to a report of a driver who struck a parked car in Airmont and proceeded to speed away from the scene.
