23-Year-Old Killed, 3 Injured In Head-On Crash In Area
A 23-year-old man was killed and three others injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash in the area. The crash took place in Putnam Valley around 8:55 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27 on Wood St. Putnam Sheriff Kevin J. McConville said deputies were dispatched to Wood Street near Meadow Crest Drive for an automobile accident with injuries. Deputies, along with members of the Putnam Valley Fire Department arrived on the scene and began extrication and medical aid for the occupants of the two vehicles involved, police said. Three people are facing drugs and weapons charges following the execution of two search warrants on homes in the area. The bust took place in Northern Westchester on Wednesday, Aug. 17 in Peekskill. Members of the Peekskill Police, along with the Westchester County Police and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants on two separate residences in Peekskill and Lake Peekskill in connection with a joint investigation between the three agencies, said Lt. Man Convicted Of Torturing, Killing Girlfriend's Pets At Her Home In Hudson Valley
A man has admitted to torturing and killing his former girlfriend’s two pets inside her Hudson Valley home. Matthew Savinovich pleaded guilty in a Putnam County Court Tuesday, April 26, to two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, one count of torturing animals, and one count of attempted burglary. Investigators said Savinovich, a New Jersey resident from the borough of Norwood in Bergen County, admitted to killing two of the woman’s chihuahuas by slamming them against a wall in her Lake Peekskill home. A longtime Tarrytown Union Free School District secretary and Putnam County resident has been sentenced to probation and must pay restitution after stealing more than $10,000 from her employer. Lake Peekskill resident Carol Ressa, 54, has been sentenced to five years probation in Westchester County Court, and ordered to finish paying restitution of the balance due to the school district, $2,929.56, during her first 12 months of probation. Tarrytown School Employee Pleads Guilty To Stealing Thousands From District
The longtime Tarrytown Union Free School District secretary and Putnam County resident accused of stealing more than $10,000 from her employer has pleaded guilty to a corruption charge. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Thursday that Lake Peekskill resident Carol Ressa, 53, has pleaded guilty to a felony count of third-degree grand larceny as a public corruption crime.
