A new 24-hour-a-day supermarket is opening in the Hudson Valley, focusing on everything fresh. The Garden Fresh Market, located in Rockland County in Spring Valley, will have its soft opening on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 26, said owner Wilson Bermeo of New City. After over 30 years in business, a popular ShopRite store in the region will close this summer. The 55,500-square-foot store, located in Ulster County in Ellenville, at 1 ShopRite Boulevard off Route 209, was opened in 1993 by Wakefern Food Corporation in New Jersey. According to Karen O'Shea, the corporation's spokeswoman, the store did not renew its lease and will close on Saturday, Aug. 31. The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hasn’t kept food shoppers from heading to their local grocery stores, according to a new study.
