Driver Charged In Death Of Sullivan County Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash: Police
A 29-year-old Liberty woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Sullivan County, and the driver is now facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving while impaired, State Police report.
The crash occurred early Friday, Jan. 5, on Glen Wild. Road near Pine Tree Road in the town of Thompson, said Trooper Jennifer Alvarez.
According to Alvarez, a 2018 Toyota RAV 4, driven by Sadia K. Thomas, 31, of Woodridge, was traveling northbound on Glen Wild Road when it struck Vanessa M. Hopper, age 29, of Liberty.

A Long Island man was busted for alleged felony aggravated DWI with two children under the age of 16 in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop of a 2021 Cadillac Escalade.
Donald Durando, age 44, of Smithtown, Suffolk County, was charged by state police in Windham, Greene County, on Saturday, Dec. 28, NYSP Trooper Jennifer Alvarez said.
While interviewing Durando, troopers smelled the strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. Alvarez said. Durando submitted to a field sobriety test, which he failed, and was placed under arrest without incident.

A 16-year-old runaway in the region has been nabbed for allegedly stealing two vehicles, burglary, and theft.
The arrest occurred in Ulster County on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the town of Lloyd.

Five Found Unconscious On Northern Westchester Lawn From Drinking Too Much, Police Say
Five people in their early 20s were hospitalized and treated by EMS after being found unconscious on the lawn of a residence in Northern Westchester.
The incident took place around 8:18 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, when New York State Police responded to a residence in Lincolndale, a hamlet of Somers, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
When state police arrived, all five were passed out on the lawn of the residence, according to Hicks.
The group had apparently consumed too much alcohol, Hicks said.

A man was arrested for felony DWI after he allegedly crashed his vehicle while driving at more than twice the legal limit in Ulster County.
Christopher M. Claussell, 43, of Saugerties, was arrested around 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, when Saugerties Police responded to the area of165 Main St., for a reported motor vehicle crash, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said.
