Heroin Found On NY Driver Pepper Sprayed By Officers After Pursuit Through NJ Yards, Police Say
A 50-year-old Rockland County man was found with heroin after leading a police pursuit over state lines, that ended with him hitting multiple vehicles — including police cars — in Mahwah, NJ on Tuesday evening, July 9, police said.
Trouble began sometime around 5:15 p.m., when Eugene McDermott, of Tomkins Cove, NY fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident in Sloatsburg, Mahwah Police Lt. Michael Blondin said.
Officers tried stopping McDermott, who was operating a Dodge pickup truck with significant damage, but he fled, Blondin said.

Hudson Valley Man Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting Hotel Housekeeper
A Hudson Valley man accused of sexually assaulting a housekeeper at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City has been convicted, authorities said.
On Thursday, March 31, a jury found Ulster County resident Jamel Carlton, age 36, of Saugerties, guilty of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, burglary, aggravated assault and criminal restraint, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Carlton was arrested twice on Feb. 15, 2018, in separate assaults at the hotel, authorities said.

Teen Admits To Stabbing Two Rockland Men On Jersey Shore, Prosecutor Says
A teenager has admitted to stabbing two Hudson Valley men on the Jersey Shore during a fight last year, authorities said.
Juwan Roman, age 18, of Newark, pleaded guilty on Thursday, May 13 to two counts of aggravated assault and weapons offenses, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
Roman's name was made public this week after he waived his right to juvenile status in Family Court.
Roman was 17 during the 2020 assault, but he voluntarily agreed to be prosecuted as an adult, the prosecutor said.
