The arrest came about when an officer conducting traffic enforcement stopped a car on Route 59 in Monsey for a seat belt violation Friday evening, according to police.
A Department of Motor Vehicles inquiry revealed that the driver had four suspensions out of the Nassau County village of Rockville Centre, and should not have been operating a vehicle, officials report.
The driver was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, according to police.
He was released on two traffic tickets returnable to Ramapo Town Court in July and was not permitted to drive the vehicle from the scene, officials report.
Ramapo police officers responded to 13 motor vehicle accidents on Friday.
Sites of the accidents included two apiece in Suffern Park, Monsey, northeast Ramapo, Chestnut Ridge and Airmont, and one each in New Hempstead, Viola and Montebello.
Two of the accidents involved injuries. They occurred on Route 59 in Monsey and Chestnut Ridge Road in Chestnut Ridge.
Ramapo police handled 161 calls Friday, including 12 alarm activations, four medical emergencies and five fires.
A pair of arrests were made for traffic-related offenses, according to officials.
