Carl Thurnau, the state director of facilities has written to the district, confirming approval of 55 percent state aid for the scope of work proposed for the 2015 bond for critical systems.
Thurnau, stated in a letter to the district that the entire project at all schools consisting of roofing, boilers, electrical transformers, and very minor miscellaneous work; and with the understanding that the project scope is limited strictly to work necessary to preserve the facilities, building aid will be approved.
Though district officials had expected the aid, the confirmation from the state adds to the current information being provided to taxpayers for consideration as the Dec. 10 vote approaches for the 2015 bond.
The Board of Education has planned that the bond will be paid for with 55 percent through state aid and 45 percent through the allocation of current budget dollars. As a result, there will be no increase in the school budget or taxes.
