Several groups have already signed up to remove trash and debris in certain areas, but more help is needed. Volunteers are also reminding people that trash on streets also ends up in waterways since storm drains all lead to a body of water.

So far, there are seven cleanups scheduled, and volunteers are hoping for more through the next few months. On Saturday, Nov. 12, the Rockland County Police Hispanic Society Adopt-A-Road Cleanup will be working along Route 9W and Route 202 in Haverstraw.

The United Way Fall Day of Caring is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23. Volunteers are invited to meet at 2:30 p.m. at the Hyenga Lake Housing Complex to clean along Pascack Brook.
On Sunday, Sept. 24, the Nyack Memorial Park Cleanup is planned for Nyack Memorial Park, and a cleanup of the Causeway in Congers near Lake DeForest starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.
A cleanup of Sparkhill Creek is planned for 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 15, starting at Christ Church in Sparkill, and the Dan Garcia Adopt-A-Road cleanup starts at 10 a.m. at the Congers train station on Burnside Avenue.
State Sen. David Carlucci is planning an Adopt-A-Road Cleanup starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 12 to clean up near Route 304 and Route 9W. Call Carlucci's office at 845-623-3627 for more details.
Keep Rockland Beautiful is also working on scheduling a fall cleanup around Pascack Brook in Spring Valley and Nanuet, and an event hosted Aney Paul, Rockland County legislator, for New Clarkstown Road.
