Stuck Dog Pulled From Icy Pond At Country Club In Rye A dog stuck in an icy pond at a golf course in Westchester was rescued by firefighters in a dramatic rescue effort.  The incident happened on Monday, Jan. 6, around 9:30 a.m., when the Rye Fire Department responded to a call from The Apawamis Club about a dog trapped in the frozen pond off the 12th tee, Rye city officials said.  When rescue crews arrived, they used Locust Avenue to quickly access the pond. 'Unsafe' Light Post Causes Road Closure In Tuckahoe: Here's Where Part of a busy road in Tuckahoe is temporarily closed to traffic as authorities address an unsafe condition involving a light post, police announced.  The closure, which affects Columbus Avenue between Circuit Avenue and Fulton Street, was announced by the Tuckahoe Police Department on social media on Tuesday, Jan. 7 around 4:50 p.m.  Officers are on-site diverting traffic until the issue is resolved and the area is deemed safe. The department thanked residents and drivers for their understanding and cooperation during the temporary disruption.

Sidewalk Snow Plow Hits Vehicle In Bedford: Police A roadway was briefly blocked after a snow plow hit a vehicle at a Northern Westchester intersection, police said. The collision happened on Tuesday, Jan. 7 around 11 a.m., when a small sidewalk plow used for snow removal hit a vehicle in Bedford at the intersection of Cherry Street and Bedford Road (Route 117), according to Bedford Police Lt. Jeff Gulick. Gulick said the plow hit the vehicle while trying to cross Bedford Road and added that there were no injuries.  The roadway is now clear.
