Ex-Deputy Mayor In Hudson Valley Headed For Jail On Gun Charges
A former Hudson Valley deputy mayor has pleaded guilty to six felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Ramapo resident Brian Downey, age 49, of Airmont, plead guilty on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in connection with the discovery of a cache of weapons during a search of his Airmont home on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh.
He faces two years in the Rockland County Jail for his convictions, Walsh said.

A man who fired multiple shots at police officers near an area school has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Keith M. Potik, age 28, of Wappingers Falls, was sentenced on Friday, Aug. 20 for the incident which took place on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, just blocks away from a primary school, leading to a school lockdown in Red Hook.
Potik, who pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder, as well as two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

An Orange County man was jailed after surrendering to police for sexually allegedly assaulting, restraining, and threatening a victim at a Mahwah, New Jersey hotel, authorities said.
Gustavo R. Gonzalez, age 24, of Middletown, committed an assault in his vehicle, then sexually assaulted and restrained the victim at the hotel while armed with an undisclosed weapon last Tuesday, May 25, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
The victim escaped and dialed 911, but Gonzalez fled, Musella said.

Complaints of constant coming and goings and syringes in the street led to the bust of a Suffern man for allegedly dealing drugs.
Aided with a no-knock warrant, Suffern Police, along with members of the Rockland Drug Task Force and Rockland SWAT team, raided the Prairie Avenue home of Gustavo Roche, around 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, said Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn.
