Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Hudson Valley A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely.  The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page.  No injuries were reported.

Vehicle Catches On Fire On New Tappan Zee Bridge, Impacts Traffic A vehicle fire impacted traffic on the new Tappan Zee Bridge off the shore of Westchester County.  The blaze happened on Thursday, Aug. 22 just before 11 a.m., when a truck caught on fire in the northbound lanes of I-87 on the bridge near the Tarrytown shore, according to the New York State Thruway Authority.  The incident temporarily caused the left lane to be completely blocked. Car Goes Up In Flames On Busy Northern Westchester Roadway Smoke was seen on a busy main route in Northern Westchester when a vehicle went up in flames.  The incident happened on Saturday, May 11 around 1:40 p.m., when a car caught on fire on Route 9 southbound in Croton-on-Hudson just south of the pedestrian bridge.  According to the village's fire department, the blaze began in the vehicle's engine compartment and was quickly put out. The car was removed from the road after around an hour. No injuries were reported.

Hot coals from grills scorched the vehicles during two separate incidents in the MetLife Stadium parking lot, Meadowlands Fire Chief Kevin Meehan said.
