Not Over Yet: Damaging Winds Could Bring Down Trees, Cause More Power Outages
The rainfall from a strong storm system that swept through the area has moved east, but damaging winds remain. Winds out of the west at 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour during the day on Friday, Nov. 1 could cause more power outages. Tens of thousands in the region already got power knocked out during Halloween evening and the overnight. There have also been numerous road closures due to downed trees, resulting in some school closures and delayed starts as well as transportation delays. Metro-North Experiences Hours-Long Delays
This story has been updated. Metro-North experienced delays into and out of Grand Central Terminal due to a speed restriction resulting from track work starting at the tail end of the morning commute and continuing into the early afternoon. In a statement issued just before 8:30 a.m., Metro-North advised customers on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines to listen for announcements at local stations. Delays were as long as 20 minutes at times.
