A Hudson Valley man was convicted of slashing a man he did not know with a box cutter as he walked with his wife on an area sidewalk.
Rockland County resident Darius Williams, age 34, of Spring Valley, was found guilty on Monday, Aug. 7 following a four-day jury trial, said Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh.
On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, around 6 p.m., Williams slashed a Haverstraw resident in the face with what appeared to be a box cutter, the DA's office said.

A Hudson Valley man who allegedly robbed two businesses with a gun and attempted to rob another has been charged with federal armed robbery.
Orange County resident 40-year-old, Adham Mohamed El-Gamal, of Harriman, was arrested on Wednesday, July 12 for the robberies which took place on Monday, July 10 in Rockland County in Spring Valley.

Two rabbis who pleaded guilty to a fatal fire at an adult home in the Hudson Valley have escaped jail time through a plea deal.
Rockland County residents Nathaniel Sommer, age 72, of Monsey, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, June 20 to two counts of second-degree manslaughter and is expected to be sentenced to five years probation, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh.
His son, Aaron Sommer, age 29, also of Monsey, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree reckless endangerment, which carries a sentence of three years probation, Walsh added.
