Shootings, Assaults, Lost Child Keep Officers On Run In Poughkeepsie Instead of watching fireworks on Sunday, July 4, officers with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department were busy running from one call to another including shots fired, officer assaulted, and a lost child.  Shots fired: The day started early around 7:30 a.m. when officers on patrol were flagged down by employees of Family Dollar at 412 Main Street. Employees said that the building had been struck by gunfire and several windows had been damaged. The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Town of Ulster resident Christopher Johnson, age 29, who also allegedly resisted when troopers attempted to take him into custody. Johnson, a Level 3 sex offender, was the subject of an investigation earlier this month due to an active warrant out for his arrest for violating the Sex Offender Registry, police said. Brigid Fonda, age 54, was arrested on Thursday, June 10, after being stopped in Columbia County on Route 9 in Livingston in her 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a violation, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
