An 18-year-old man is facing the music after taunting officers and instigating them into chasing him across multiple counties in the Hudson Valley before he was eventually caught thanks to a seized engine, police said. The incident happened on Thursday, March 23 around 9 p.m., when two officers from the Carmel Police Department were assigned to a traffic detail at a large gathering in Putnam County on Route 6 in Mahopac. A Northern Westchester mayor who is fed up with the dangerous conditions on major roadways is calling on the state for action. In a letter to state transportation officials, Briarcliff Manor Mayor Steve Vescio once again presses state Department of Transportation officials to address the serious and ongoing safety issues on the heavily trafficked and outmoded Route 9A in as it winds through Briarcliff and Ossining. Hudson Valley Gets $38M For ‘Environmentally Friendly’ Pedestrian, Biking Projects
The Hudson Valley is set to receive more than $38 million in federal funding to help pay for new pedestrian and biking projects around the region. New York was awarded a total of $178.8 million in federal dollars that will go to 75 communities across the state for projects that promote environmentally friendly modes of travel and make it easier and safer to bike and walk, according to Gov.
