Area Man Charged With Murder-Arson After Intentionally Setting Fatal Fire, Officials Say
A Hudson Valley man has been charged with murder and arson in connection with allegedly intentionally starting a fire at a home with people sleeping inside, killing one person.
Orange County resident Ryan Veloce, age 32, of Montgomery, was charged with murder and arson on Friday, Dec. 16, in connection with the Thursday, June 10 crime, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

$20,000 Reward Offered In Hudson Valley Murder Case
Police in the Hudson Valley are offering a $20,000 reward for an arrest in the 20-year-old murder of an area woman.
On Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, Nancy Smith, a 32-year-old Orange County resident was found dead in her house on Provost Drive in New Windsor.
According to New Windsor Police Deputy Chief Michael Farbent, on that day, Smith’s parents received a call from her office saying that she had not shown up to work at the Horton Hospital in Middletown.

Indictments Announced In Area Attempted Murder Case
A Hudson Valley man who has been on the run in connection with a shooting earlier this year has been captured and charged with attempted murder.
Orange County resident Lavelle Stackhouse, age 24, of Newburgh, was arraigned on Tuesday, Dec. 7, and charged with attempted murder in the second degree.
According to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler, the indictment was in connection with a shooting of a man in the middle of the day on Williams Street, in the City of Newburgh, on Wed. Sept. 8.
