Former Iona Prep Athlete, 21, Dies Just Before Scheduled Graduation From Binghamton University
A 21-year-old from Westchester a day away from his scheduled graduation from college has died.
Clive T. Chakavarika of New Rochelle died Friday, May 17. Information surrounding the cause of death was not released.
At the time of his death, Chakavarika had just completed his bachelor's of science degree in integrated neuroscience from Binghamton University and was set to graduate on Saturday, May 18.

Ryan Mead, Gifted Artist, Craftsman In Hudson Valley, Dies At 29
Orange County native Ryan J. Mead, who worked as a carpenter with his father and grandfather, died on Friday, Dec. 28 at home in the Town of Greenville. He was 29.
He was born June 18, 1989 in Middletown.
A family statement read: “Ryan was a kind, soft-spoken young man who brought happiness to everyone he met, with his sweet nature and great sense of humor.

111-Year-Old Hudson Valley Man Dies, Survived By 108-Year-Old Wife
Duranord Veillard of Spring Valley, who was believed to be the oldest resident in the Hudson Valley, died Friday, June 1, at the age of 111.
Although officials records are not kept, Veillard's family members and his wife Jeanne Veillard, believed them to be area's oldest married couple, having been married since 1932. Jeanne turned 108 in May.
Born in Haiti to Miciade Toulou and Tatice Veillard on Feb. 28, 1907, Veillard studied law and served as a judge for a number of years in his hometown before immigrating to the U.S. in the late 1960’s.

Penguin Rep Theatre is saddened to announce the passing of Susan (Sue) Brancato, 98, of Thiells, its co-founder and long-time business manager, and mother of artistic director Joe Brancato.
Executive Director Andrew M. Horn said, “Sue ran the box office, kept the books, housed and fed actors, was the kindly and helpful voice on the phone, and so much more. She dedicated over 30 years to ensuring that professional theatre artists had a home in the lower Hudson Valley before retiring, at the age of 92, in 2011.”

Mahwah Parents Mourn 'Fighter' Twin Dante Rivera, 8 Months
MAHWAH, N.J. — Dante Malik Rivera of Mahwah died on Dec. 14, leaving his twin sister, Ariyah Monet Rivera. He was eight months old.
"Dante was by nature a fighter," his obituary says. "He fought a good fight."
He is survived by his parents, Yolanda Yvette Lafayette and Jorge Rivera, of Mahwah; siblings, Amya Beauvais, Emily Rivera and Isaiah Rivera ; grandparents Elmore and Mary Joyce Wilson; great-grandparents Estelle Ratliff of Louisiana and Sally Wilson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
