Election 2024: Winner Projected In Hudson Valley's 17th Congressional District Race The votes have been tallied, and a projected winner has come out on top in the race for New York's 17th Congressional District seat.  Incumbent Republican Rep. Mike Lawler has emerged as the winner for the House seat representing Rockland and Putnam counties, most of Northern Westchester, and portions of southern Dutchess County, defeating Democratic challenger Mondaire Jones, according to the state Board of Elections. School Swatting Attacks In Hudson Valley: Rep. Lawler Proposes Longer Prison Sentences In response to a rise in school swatting attacks across the country, including in the Hudson Valley, US Rep.
