A man faces charges after beating a goose to death with a club at a Hudson Valley golf course, police said. The arrest stemmed from an incident on Friday, Aug. 18, when the Putnam County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) responded to a call from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police regarding a golfer beating a Canada Goose to death. Hudson Valley Man Admits To Killing Bat Inside Cave
A Hudson Valley man has admitted to animal cruelty charges for killing a bat in a Putnam County cave, SPCA officials announced. Putnam County SPCA Chief Ken Ross said that Caleb Shuk, age 20, of Philipstown, has pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty following an incident in May last year that led to his arrest. Shuk was arrested on May 4, 2021, and charged with torturing a bat resting against a rock wall in the Sunken Mines Caves location in Putnam County. Drunk Driver Strikes Hudson Valley Residence, Crashes Into Creek, Sheriff Says
A man from the region is accused of driving drunk and crashing into a house before ending up in a nearby creek, police said. The wreck happened at around 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 in Ulster County near Sawkill and Melissa roads in Kingston, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said. When deputies arrived they found the car in Sawkill Creek and assisted the driver in exiting the vehicle, police said. It's Illegal To Sell Or Own Alligators Without Permit, DA Says
The prosecution of a person for selling dwarf alligators as baby alligators has authorities reminding residents it's illegal to own or sell the reptiles without a permit. Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler commended the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police for their enforcement of laws prohibiting the sale of wild animals in Orange County, and all of New York State.
