Authorities have released more information about a fatal crash on a busy Hudson Valley road that left a man dead. The crash happened in Putnam County on Friday, May 31 around 2:10 p.m., when a motorcycle struck a small bus on Route 301 in Carmel west of Gipsy Trail Road, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. A kindergarten teacher was on paid leave after she gave the middle finger to a parent during what she calls a “communication mistake” on a Zoom call. State Police Pursuit Into Rockland Tops 100 MPH, Ends In Arrest
A high-speed New Jersey State Police pursuit that began Wednesday night in Morris County ended nearly a half-hour later in Rockland with a suspect in custody, responders said. The nearly 30-mile chase began on northbound Route 287 shortly before 8 p.m. With wet road conditions and speeds eventually topping 100 miles per hours, troopers began to pull back as the suspect exited at Airmont Road in Suffern, responders said. A 39-year-old Morris County motorcyclist was killed in a Friday night crash on the Garden State Parkway in Washington Township, authorities said. Preliminary indications were that a southbound Honda sedan driven by a 43-year-old Nanuet man "entered the lane of travel" of a Yamaha motorcycle driven by Simon Kerns of Chatham near Exit 166 just after 6 p.m., NJ State Trooper Charles Marchan said. A 46-year-old man who robbed employees at gunpoint at hotels in Airmont and Nanuet was sentenced Tuesday to 21 years in federal prison. WYCKOFF, N.J. -- A former settlement agent from Wyckoff was sentenced Monday to 12 years in federal prison for bank fraud and other crimes involving refinanced properties in Bergen and Morris counties.
