Hudson Valley Man Stabs Ex-GF's New Boyfriend, Police Say
A 30-year-old Hudson Valley man was nabbed after allegedly stabbing and attacking his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend after breaking into a home. Orange County resident John Luke Popadopoulous of Monroe was arrested on Wednesday, July 5 in Monroe, said Lt. Tim Young, of the Monroe Police Department. According to Young, Papadopoulous forced his way into a residence on Lake Street and attacked the new boyfriend with a knife causing injuries to the man's neck and chest. The 28-year-old victim was transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center in stable condition, Young said. …

A 7-year-old boy who died in the area may have been the victim of neglect, police said. The incident took place at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, in Orange County when the City of Newburgh Police Department was notified by Montefiore St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh that a 7-year-old boy arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle and was not breathing at the time he arrived, said Lt. Two men from New York City were arrested as they retrieved $42,800 in payments sent by victims of a telephone scam to vacant homes for sale in Fairfield County, police say. Police received a complaint on Tuesday, Nov. 19, of suspicious activity concerning the delivery of packages to vacant homes for sale. On Friday, Nov. 22, police received a call from a UPS security about suspicious deliveries scheduled to be delivered to two vacant homes for sale in eastern Fairfield County in the town of Monroe. Child Riding Bicycle Struck By Vehicle Airlifted To Westchester Trauma Unit
A 12-year-old Orange County boy was airlifted to the Westchester Medical Center Trauma Unit after being struck by a vehicle. The incident took place around 9:42 a.m. Friday on Route 17M, said Monroe Police Department Chief Dave Conklin. According to the chief, the child was walking his bike on the shoulder of Route 17, when traffic cleared and he went to ride across Route 17M. "Unfortunately he rode ride into the path of a vehicle that could not avoid hitting him," the chief said. Know Her? Police Seek Help In Finding Monroe Stop & Shop Larceny Suspect
The Monroe Police Department has released a photo of a woman that allegedly stole various items from a local supermarket. The Monroe Police Department is investigating a larceny that occurred on Nov. 19 last year at Stop & Shop in Monroe last year. On Tuesday, they released a photo of the suspect, who allegedly stole numerous cosmetic items from the store and is wanted for questioning.
