Sheriff IDs Man Killed In Route 9 Crash
Authorities have released details in the Friday, Jan. 17 crash along Route 9 that left one person dead in Putnam County. Norton Segarra, 74, of Beacon, NY was heading south when he veered into the northbound lanes and was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by a 60-year-old Milford, CT man around 1:30 p.m. near Route 403 in Garrison, County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville said. Segarra was pronounced dead at the scene near Philipstown, and the driver of the truck was taken to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Discount retail chain Big Lots has filed for bankruptcy as its list of planned store closures expands. It currently has around 1,425 stores nationwide. It's more bad news for discount retailer Big Lots. The nationwide chain announced in June that it would close 40 stores following dismal sales and rising costs, but in a new filing last week, the company said it may need to shutter nearly 300 locations — several of them in the Northeast. Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Stealing $1K Worth Of Items From Lowe's Store
A Hudson Valley man was arrested and accused of stealing merchandise worth $1,000 from a Connecticut store more than seven years ago. That merchandise was allegedly stolen from Lowe's, located in New Haven County at 311 Old Gate Lane in Milford, in October of 2014, the Milford Police Department said. Dutchess County resident Michael Horowitz, age 30, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Friday, March 18, in the incident, police said. He was charged with fifth-degree larceny and fifth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, authorities said.

A Hudson Valley man has been arrested on a warrant for allegedly stealing more than $1,000 in goods from a Lowe's store in Connecticut.
