'Stay Calm,' Say Rockland County Officials After Drone Sightings
Rockland County officials are urging residents to remain calm after at least four sightings of drones were spotted flying over the region late Thursday, Dec. 12, and into New Jersey. “We understand that these drone sightings may be unsettling and are taking these reports seriously,” said County Executive Ed Day. Hudson Valley Gun Buyback Event Offers Cash For Weapons
For those who have a gun they want to get rid of now's the time during a gun buyback event in the Hudson Valley. Authorities in the Hudson Valley announced plans for an upcoming community gun buyback event. Fatal Rockland Fire Investigation To Take Weeks, Authorities Say
Officials investigating a fatal blaze that took the life of a Rockland County firefighter as well as a resident of an assisted living center said the investigation into the cause could take weeks. Rockland Should Opt Out Of State's Move To Legalize Recreational Marijuana, Day Says
Rockland County Executive Ed Day is the latest leader in the state to urge "opting out" of the move to legalize recreational marijuana. In a statement on Friday, March 15, Day said the legislation needs to be totally studied before being enacted. "While medical marijuana in non-smokeable form has been helping people who have pain, recreational marijuana is not a panacea and may, in fact, make things worse," he said. 24 Rockland Police Officers Receive Stop DWI Awards
Last year, a total of 839 people were arrested in Rockland County for driving while intoxicated. Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco recognized 24 police officers who led the county in arrests to eliminate drunk driving.
