When most people think of Manhattan, they're not picturing scenic waterfalls. Yet, one is now back in action after several years of inactivity. Hudson Valley Man Pretended To Be Engineer, Approved Plans, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man was busted for the unauthorized practice of a profession for allegedly representing himself as an engineer. Orange County resident William Sattler, age 64, of Middletown, was charged by New York State Police on Thursday, Sept. 26. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, an investigation revealed that Sattler was acting as an engineer and stamping engineering plans using the seal of the ex-employer. A high school senior from the Hudson Valley will attend West Point after pushing through a rigorous application process in search of opportunities that his parents never had. 'King Of Summer': Holocaust Survivor Who Worked At Camp For 71 Years From Rockland County Dies
A man who escaped the Holocaust at a young age and went on to become a mainstay at a summer camp for more than 70 years has died. Rockland County resident Harry Vogel of Tappan died on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the age of 87, according to his obituary. Born on Yom Kippur in Frankfurt, Germany in 1935, Vogel was the first son of Arthur Vogel, who was taken to Buchenwald concentration camp during the Holocaust. Three seniors from high schools in Rockland County are the recipients of college scholarships from SUEZ and the New York Chapter of the National Association of Water Companies. SUEZ and NAWC announced local recipients of the $3,000 scholarships designed to assist high school graduates pursuing degrees related to the water industry. Friends and classmates of the former Westchester varsity boys soccer standout and Binghamton University freshman who was fatally stabbed Sunday night have scheduled a gathering in his honor late Wednesday afternoon.
