I-87 Stop Results In Felony DWI Charge For Rockland Man
A Rockland man is facing felony DWI charges after a traffic stop on I-87, police say. New York State Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on I-87 in Newburgh on Saturday, March 16 around 2:20 p.m. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s driver, identified as 34-year-old Daniel Hyppolite of Spring Valley, was allegedly intoxicated and had a suspended license, according to state police. Route 9W, Palisades Parkway Stops Result In DWI Charges For Newburgh, Nyack Men
Two area residents were charged by New York State Police Troopers for alleged impaired driving in the area. Troopers from Montgomery stopped Newburgh resident Devon Peters, 28, on State Route 9W in Newburgh early on Friday, March 8 after he committed a vehicle and traffic violation. During the subsequent stop, the investigation determined that Peters was allegedly impaired by alcohol and he was subsequently arrested. Police Tandem Avoids Route 17 Tragedy In Low-Speed Heroin User Chase
Police from several Northwest Bergen towns thwarted a potentially dangerous incident Wednesday when they closed off a stretch of northbound Route 17 to stop a heroin-addled driver from Rockland whose car bounced off the center divider several times, authorities said. Upper Saddle River Police Officer Kevin McWilliams, responding to another motorist's call, got behind the car around 12:30 p.m., Detective Lt. Edward Kane said.
