Investigators from the Ramapo Police Department have issued an alert regarding Smadar Cohen - also known as Smadar Ategi-Cohen - who is wanted on charges that include rape, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a child. According to police, the charges stem from a series of incidents that happened in July last year in both Ramapo and Airmont. Police: Ridgewood Woman Strands Utility Worker Mid-Air In Bucket A Ridgewood woman upset with a cable company worker hopped into the cab of an Optimum truck and cut the power to a utility bucket, leaving him hanging in mid-air, police said. Elena Gerlihman, 59, then “removed utility property from the truck and walked away,” Capt. William Amoruso said. Responding officers found the worker stranded in the bucket near Gerlihman’s home at East Ridgewood and South Pleasant avenues, Amoruso said. They arrested Gerlihman on charges of harassment, false imprisonment, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing, then released her pending a court date.

Seen Him? Alert Issued For Wanted Congers Teenage Suspect Police are seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to locate a teenage suspect wanted on multiple charges, including assault. The Clarkstown Police Department issued an alert for 19-year-old Jonathan Alvarenga this week, who is wanted for assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct dating back to an incident in Rockland County last year.  Police said that Alvarenga’s last known address was in Congers. Police: Middletown Man Engages In Threatening Behavior At Resorts World A Middletown man was arrested by state police after threatening people while at the Resorts World Casino in the Town of Thompson. Joshua Gill, 29, was charged Saturday with disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana after troopers were called to the resort for a disorderly man, said Trooper Steven Nevel. While interviewing casino security, troopers determined that Gill was engaging in tumultuous and threatening behavior, and was taken into custody, Nevel said. Gill was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Thompson Court on March 22.
