NY Bar Hired Bouncer Who Beat Customer To Death Despite History Of Violence, Lawsuit Alleges
A New York bar bouncer who was convicted of beating a 32-year-old customer to death was hired despite having a “lengthy” criminal history and a propensity for violence, a new lawsuit alleges.
In the wrongful death lawsuit, filed in Suffolk County Supreme Court on Wednesday, June 28, the family of Jake Scott alleges that JDC's Tailgaters Sports Bar in Holbrook had a “duty of care” and is liable for his death.
Scott, of Centereach, died in September 2022, 11 days after he was savagely beaten by the bar's bouncer, David Cruz.

A New York dance instructor who once dated singer and actress Ariana Grande is facing child sex crimes charges after allegedly exchanging sexual content with underage students, authorities said.
Long Island’s Jordan Viscomi, age 30, of Centereach, was arrested Wednesday, May 17, according to Suffolk County Police.
Viscomi is a dance instructor at David Sanders Dance Dynamics, located on Sunrise Highway in Oakdale.
According to investigators, he met and befriended two girls, ages 15 and 16, while they were dance students there.

New York Man Claims '$1,000 A Week For Life' Cash4Life Prize
A Long Island man won a "$1,000 A Week For Life" lottery prize.
Edward Prush, of Centereach, claimed the prize from the CASH4LIFE drawing on Monday, Aug. 1, New York Lottery announced on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The winning numbers from the drawing were: 11 20 36 40 46 Cash Ball 02, NY Lottery said.
Prush chose to receive his prize as a single, lump-sum payment of $651,000 after required withholdings, the lottery said.
The winning lottery ticket was purchased at the Club House Café, which is located at 1937 Middle County Road in Centereach, NY Lottery reported.

Long Island’s David Cruz, age 31, of Medford, was indicted for first-degree manslaughter Thursday, Sept. 22, in Suffolk County in the death of Jake Scott, of Centereach.
Cruz was working as a bouncer at Tailgaters Bar in Holbrook on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, when he got into an argument with Scott shortly before 3 a.m., according to the Suffolk County DA’s Office.
