Rockland Community College graduated 37 students from the school's Nursing Program earlier this month in a traditional pinning ceremony.
The graduates recited the Nightingale Pledge, named for Florence Nightingale, who is considered the founder of modern nursing, during the ceremony before they were presented with their nursing pins. (The ceremony welcomes the students into the profession by presenting them with the school's nursing pin.)
The RCC program is a two-year program that counts more than 3,000 registered nurses as alumni.
President Cliff L. Wood, Ed.D. and Chair of Nursing Dorothea Lever, Ph.D., RN, CDE, addressed the crowd during the ceremony held in the school's Cultural Arts Theater along with Valedictorian Allison S. Lord and student Roberto Fratarcangeli.
Honored during the ceremony was program graduate and veteran Samantha M. Doran, who was presented with the double honor cord for her service. Doran served in the United States Airforce as a Senior Airman, E-4, and was deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
