Weider's Resignation Rankles Rockland Legislators

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The resignation of Aaron Wieder as Democratic leader on the Rockland County Legislature due to the suggestion by the state Board of Education to have a monitor oversee the school board, rankles some legislators, according to New 12 Hudson Valley.

During a press conference last week, Wieder says he quit because a state monitor's report on the district is tinged with anti-Semitism, reported News 12 Hudson Valley.

County Executive Ed Day said Wieder's comments on the monitor were counterproductive, and Democratic State Sen. David Carlucci says the monitor's proposals are not anti-Semitic, added News 12 Hudson Valley.

A new leader will be elected when the legislature reorganizes on Jan. 5, added News 12 Hudson Valley.
