Increases in the tax rate would be consistent with locations of homes among the village or the part of town that is unincorporated, lohud said. The report noted that villages get services from the town.
The budget put forth at Wednesday's meeting allows for $42 million for the Police Department to pay for 15 additional staff, said lohud.com.
St. Lawrence reportedly pointed to "numerous financial challenges" the town faces, including a loss of revenue amounting to $700,000 if taxes get collected by Ramapo Schools, according to lohud.com.
