Spring Valley Mayor's Wages Garnished In Flap Over SUV Purchase

RAMAPO, N.Y. – A move to garnish Mayor Demeza Delhomme’s wages is unlikely to lessen tensions between the Spring Valley mayor and village trustees, according to a report on lohud.com

The board’s majority voted last week to make Delhomme pay the village back $47,487.50 used to buy an SUV, lohud.com reported.

According to lohud.com, Delhomme makes $115,000 a year.

Although a court has ruled that the 2014 Ford Expedition’s purchase was made illegally without competitive bids, Delhomme -- citing a memo from the village treasurer to a former village attorney -- has continued to maintain that he did nothing improper, the lohud.com report said.

Delhomme voted against the resolution, and Deputy Mayor Emilia White declined to vote; while trustees Vilair Fonville, Asher Grossman, and Sherry McGill voted for it, the lohud.com article said.
