Jean-Charles said was doing paperwork for the special board meeting on June 21, a meeting that Delhomme was unaware of. The Mayor reacted to the scheduling by firing Jean-Charles and walking him out of the building around 11 a.m., according to lohud.com.
Trustee Vilair Fonvil is challenging the legality of the firing, citing Jean-Charles' one-year appointment that concludes in December. He also accused the Mayor of preventing Jean-Charles from doing his job, according to lohud.com
Meanwhile the Mayor has not publicly acknowledged dismissing Jean-Charles, who has been the acting clerk as a result of the boards refusal to make Kathryn Ball the village clerk. Despite filling the role, Jean-Charles has been unable to access the office of the clerk at times, according to lohud.com.
Delhomme and Trustees Fonvil and Sherry McGill have had spats over appointing Ball, including last week's board meeting where Fonvil and McGill refused to acknowledge Ball as village clerk and walked out of the meeting prior to it's start, according to lohud.com.
